Six examples of fragile:

- In a glass-blowing showroom (above), I recall seeing signs that said, “Fragile. Don’t Touch!” Dainty little figurine dancers or delicate flowers in glass were indeed highly vulnerable. Signage screamed, “If you break it, you bought it.”
- When you had surgery, maybe your doctor asked you to count backward from 100. Did you make it as far as 93? I didn’t. What happened? We breathed in something that caused us to “go to sleep.” We men do not like to think we could be almost instantly demobilized, but that’s what happens. We are fragile and vulnerable too.
- You could hold a small amount of mercury in the palm of your hand and it would be enough to kill you. How can something so small have such a dire impact? The answer is we are fragile.
- A friend was not healthy for three or four years. Then a doctor addressed something in her body that was not much larger than a grain of rice. Bingo! Instantly her health vastly improved. Why? Because we are fragile people. All systems have to be GO for us to thrive. It does not take much to lay us aside.
- If your big toe is tender, every time you move, that toe is talking to you.
- I recall going to an optometrist. He put a chemical into my eyes that dilated my pupils. Suddenly an abnormal abundance of light flooded my senses. I blinked several times to adjust to the massive light overload. The point is, “If something as small as a few drops can flood the eye with light, we are fragile.”
People are fragile. Let’s be patient. And gentle.
